Best Trivia Games For Families (2023)

1. Wits & Wagers Board Game: Family Edition

  • Game Type: Family / Party
  • Ages: 6+
  • Players: 3 to an unlimited number of players!
  • Play Time: 25 minutes

With over 1 million sold, Wits & Wagers has taken over the trivia and game night world by storm.

The regular version of the game still remains the most award-winning party game to this day, and the family edition is made with family fun in mind!

So basically, this is how it works. You get a question–some question that no one will actually know the answer to. Something like: “Do you know the average number of pizza slices eaten by Americans each day?”

No one knows the answers, but everyone can take a guess. Once everyone writes down a guess on the betting mat, you’ll all then place your bets. The person with the closest answer is the winner. You can even bet on yourself if you’re confident in your answer!

And even if you don’t win the bet, you’ll still learn something new, which is half the fun.

Even if you have lots of people in your party who want to play, it’s easy to pair up and make teams, or play individually with at least 4 players.

We love this game because although it has trivia involved, you don’t actually have to know or have the exact right answers to be able to win.

While the regular Wits & Wager version is certainly going to be a ton of fun nonetheless, you can expect the family version to be loaded with questions that even the little ones can answer!

Wits & Wagers Board Game: Family Edition

Best overall

This game is the perfect combination of trivia, guessing, and betting, resulting in fast-paced fun.

Simpler rules and family-friendly questions get the whole family cheering and laughing together.

Other Wits & Wager editions to consider:

2. All of Us – The Family Trivia Game for All Generations

  • Game Type: Family / Party
  • Ages: 12+
  • Players: 4 and up
  • Play Time: 30+ minutes

Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, & Gen Z, unite! All of Us is the perfect family game if the young ones, parents, and grandparents all want to play.

So how it works is players of all ages team up to compete in a multigenerational trivia battle. The game is relatively easy to play if you have multiple generations within each team.

This game is great for people of all ages since the questions are based on certain decades. If you’re older and have no idea on how to answer a Gen Z question, just ask your younger teammate!

This trivia game provides a fun way for everyone to bond and talk about the stuff you don’t know about the other generations.

3. Anomia

  • Game Type: Family / Party
  • Ages: 10+
  • Players: 3 to 6
  • Play Time: 20+ minutes

Anomia Party Edition is the next trivia board game on our list. Not only is it super simple to learn, but it’s also going to bring your game night party a ton of laughs from everyone!

So how it works is each player flips through a stack of cards, each with a symbol and a trivia category.

You’re going to want to pay really close attention to the other players’ cards because if two of you reveal the same symbol, it’s a mad dash to shout an example of the other’s category.

The winner wins the card, revealing another symbol and another possible race against another player.

The Anomia Party Edition features 6 all-new decks and over 425 unique categories, plus customizable blank cards for adding your own categories to every deck!

And if you’ve never played Anomia before, we love the original Anomia game just as much as the Party Edition–so we recommend starting with either!

Anomia Party Edition

Best for Fast-Paced fun

A very popular card game for families, teens and adults!

Fast-paced friendly competition filled with laughs as everyone tries to beat each other to the punch!

Other Anomia editions to consider:

4. Trivial Pursuit: Family Edition

  • Game Type: Family / Party
  • Ages: 8+
  • Players: 2 to 6
  • Play Time: 30+ minutes

Trivial Pursuit | Family Edition is a breath of fresh air compared to the traditional versions of the game.

If you typically struggle with being able to answer questions from the classic Trivial Pursuit (sorry, not everyone remembers TV shows from the 80s), you’ll enjoy this game, perfect for players of all ages.

This family edition comes with a gameboard as well as 100 blue cards for adults and 100 yellow cards for kids. This Trivial Pursuit game is modified for a faster game time and features age-appropriate questions so that everyone can have fun and get some answers right!

If you’re frustrated with how seemingly hard some of the original Trivial Pursuit questions are, we bring good news!

Even though the categories are the same as in the original Trivial Pursuit, the questions in this game are way easier, even for the adult cards that are included.

It means you’ll end the night with more fun than frustration! Best of all? Your little one will have a chance at winning!

Trivial Pursuit: Family Edition

An updated version of Trivial Pursuit perfect for all members of the family, even the kids!

Play with or without the gameboard–trivia cards come in a convenient box to take on the go.

Other Trivial Pursuit editions to consider:

5. STEM Family Battle

STEM Family Battle is by no means a game “just for kids”. Prepare to be stumped by this seriously challenging STEM trivia game while kids team up against you!

How it works is that you’ll help or hinder other players as you race to be the first to unlock the chest to win the game. But beware, this game is full of traps, sneaky shortcuts, and secret details that’ll get the best of your winning lead!

We love this game for the whole family because it’s like Trivial Pursuit and Chutes & Ladders all rolled up into one epic game!

This game features 800 Science, Technology, Engineering and Math questions for both kids and adults, including questions related to video games and other pop culture tropes (that might actually stump adults more than kids!).

There are two levels of difficulty to choose from — Flyweight and Heavyweight. Kids and adults can play at whichever level they please.

And even if you try out the Heavyweight questions and get none of them right, one thing’s for sure — you’ll definitely learn a new fact or two just from playing the game.
